Yamal-Europe gas pumping doubles since Urengoi accident

MOSCOW, Aug 23 (PRIME) – The gas flow through the Yamal-Europe pipeline almost doubled in the last reporting hour, exceeding the figures before the accident at Gazprom's Urengoi plant in early August, German gas transport operator Gascade said on Monday.

Pumping increased to 2.7 million cubic meters per hour between 16.00 and 17.00 Moscow time from 1.5 million cubic meters per hour before and remained at this level for three days.

A fire broke out at Gazprom's Urengoi Condensate Treatment Plant and the facilities were shut down on August 5.

The accident temporarily halved gas supplies through the Yamal-Europe pipeline that dropped to 1 million cubic meters of gas per hour. Later pumping went up and down slightly with no significant improvement.
